The cabin

A modern ski-in, ski-out cabin above Hafjell.

Welcome. We are glad you are here. This is a brand-new cabin built to be easy and comfortable to live in: smart heating you can warm up before you arrive, a code lock for simple self check-in, two parking spaces and an EV charger right outside.

In winter it is ski-in, ski-out. Year-round, the private hot tub on the deck looks out over the valley, open day and night. It is one of the few cabins in the area with one.

Take a minute to read Quick Start first. It covers Wi-Fi, heating and parking, the things you will want in the first five minutes. If anything is unclear, send us a message early so we can put it right and you can relax.

Heating

We turn the heating on before you arrive, so please send your estimated arrival time if you have not already. You can adjust some of it yourself:

  • Heat pump (varmepumpe) Use the remote control.
  • Floor heating (varmekabler) Use the wall switches.
  • Panel heaters (panelovner) Leave as they are. Message us if something seems off.

Year-round

The private hot tub

Plan ahead. Planning to use the hot tub? Please tell us in advance. We turn the heat on for you, and it takes about 24 hours to warm up.

Using the hot tub

    Shower before getting in.

    Dry off well, or put on a robe, before you go back inside. The living-room floor is pine and does not handle water well.

  3. 3

    Chlorine: there is a box of chlorine tablets in the shed, and a floating dispenser in the tub. Put one tablet in the dispenser, close it, and let it float when you are done. The tub also has UVC cleaning, so it is ready to use.

    When you finish, put the cover back on top the same way it was, so rainwater runs off (see the photo).

Arrival

Getting in

Check-in is from 15:00, and times can be flexible: ask if you would like an earlier check-in or a later check-out. Send an estimated arrival time if you can, so we can make sure everything is ready for you.

  1. 1 Enter your code Use the code you received when booking. By default it is the last six digits of your mobile number, unless we have given you a different code.
  2. 2 Press unlock The smart lock opens. If anything does not work, message us in the app.

On the snow

Skiing

In season you can ski straight from the door. Here is the way out to the slopes and back again.

Ski out

    Drive down the cabin road.

  2. 2

    At the first intersection, turn right.

  3. 3

    Continue to the end of the road, turn left, and pass the cabin at the very end.

  4. 4

    After 10 to 15 meters you reach a groomed ski trail.

  5. 5

    Turn right onto the trail. There is a long hill to walk up, but from the top it is mostly downhill.

  6. 6

    Follow the trail as it curves left. This is Trail 72.

  7. 7

    Stay on Trail 72 all the way to the alpine slope.

Ski in

  1. 1

    Take the lift up to Gaiastova.

  2. 2

    From Gaiastova, ski about 100 meters downhill, then turn left.

  3. 3

    Follow the signs for Trail 74.

  4. 4

    Stay on Trail 74 downhill until you see signs for Trail 75.

  5. 5

    Turn left onto Trail 75.

  6. 6

    Follow Trail 75 until it joins Trail 72.

  7. 7

    After you cross the bridge over the road, turn left.

  8. 8

    You will recognise the long hill from the way out. Follow the same route back to the cabin.

Safety and emergencies

A few things worth knowing, just in case.

Fire safety

  • Smoke alarms are in the hallway, living area, and on the loft.
  • The main fire extinguisher is under the stairs. There is also a small one on the right side of the TV stand, near the patio door.
  • Exits: main entrance and patio door first, windows as a backup.
  • Never leave candles or open flames unattended.
  • If you smell smoke or see flames, get everyone out first, then call 110.

Fireplace

  • Use dry wood only.
  • Keep the area around the fireplace clear of bags, clothes, and paper.
  • Do not run the kitchen extractor fan with the fireplace door open. It can pull smoke into the room.

The cabin is brand new and not on Google Maps yet, but this pin takes you straight there.

Main water valve (hovedkran)
We may ask you to turn it on when you arrive or off when you leave. If we do not mention it, leave it as it is.
Fuse box (strømskap)
In the master bedroom. If the power goes out, a fuse may have tripped. Open the box and switch it back on.
Waste and recycling
Sort into general waste, food, and paper. Take everything with you to the local recycling stations when you leave.

Quiet hours
Quiet hours in Norway are 23:00 to 07:00. Please keep outdoor noise low in the evening.

The cabin sleeps up to six.

Before you leave

Check-out is by 10:00, but times can be flexible: just ask if you would like a later check-out and it may be possible depending on the next booking.

Before you leave, please take a few photos of the cabin and send them to us in the app. It is easy to forget, but it really helps us.
